Negative Thinkers Are Losers Anywhere, Everywhere

"Mental Diarrhea and What To Do About It"

By: Richard Reese

The word "diarrhea" is based on a Greek word, meaning "flowing through" and as awful as it feels to have that affliction, that's exactly what many horse racing handicappers have when it comes to their mental approach to winning. I get it.

Handicapping can be tough if you don't know the rules to the game and doubly tough when your mental attitude is made poor by everything bombarding you from losing at the track to negative news channel reporting.

It is not easy going from a world that thrives in negativity to one where Disney feelings rule the day.

What does any of this have to do with winning at the track?

Maybe absolutely nothing, if you're closed minded, but everything if you have an open heart and mind.

Have you heard of "THE SECRET"

Many people have and basically its the premise that our thoughts invoke into the world an "energy" and it is this energy that draws the positive or negative into our lives.

I don't mean to sound esoteric, but thoughts are energy and whatever you dwell upon the most you will undoubtedly bring into your life.

The handicapper who goes to the track every day and doesn't understand the game gets to the point where the jockeys, track stewards, horses, and people in general have it out for him, becomes the habitual loser. A lovable loser to this friends at the track, but a loser nonetheless.

I remember walking up to the grandstand one racing day and overheard a conversation between two friends. One friend says to the other, "Man, the more I know about horse racing, the more money I lose."

I sort of smiled as I passed by because that might be the attitude of 95% of horse players. I think the more negative things you spout out, the more negative things or continual losing will be a part of your life.

If you get nothing out of this article, other than this, it will have been worth reading:

Forget the Past And Forget The Present

Your Past and Present Circumstances Have Nothing To Do With Your Future

The Reality You Live In Today Is Simply The Physical Manifestation Of The Thoughts And Beliefs You Have Held In The Past

Ok, that might be all well and good, but how do I win at horse racing?

The first thing you have to do is learn what makes a winner at the track or in other words, learn the rules of the game. I've written a manual on horse handicapping that looks at horse racing from a completely different perspective from class and speed standards.

If you want to be a better handicapper, then buy the manual at:

Secondly, start focusing on things in your life that you can control and that can be positive in your life.

Did you know that when you first wake up in the morning, that is when your mind (subconscious) is most impressionable?

In other words, when you first wake up give your mind something positive to absorb. It can be an uplifting story, poem, song, article, whatever, it doesn't matter, as long as it makes you feel good. This morning ritual can have you feeling good for the whole day.

The converse might be true as well.

You wake up, struggle out of bed, flip on the television for background noise. And in a span of 2 minutes hear that the freeway you use for work is jammed and that there was a murder committed just two blocks from where you live.

This gets you thinking about how much you hate the drive to work, along with hating your job. And that your neighborhood is going down the hill by the day.

I don't know how you can get more negative and thought dwelling on what you don't want in your life than this.

Do yourself a favor and turn off the news and maybe just lie in bed for a few minutes each day giving gratitude and thanks for the wonderful things in your life.

They can be large or small, significant or insignificant. Just focus on the act of gratitude.

If you really want to get started on the process of changing your way of thinking, then read anything by Joe Vitale. I've read stuff from Joe Vitale for over 10 years now and he always has something to say that will change the way you look at things.

Joe Vitale has recently written a book called, Attract Money Now, and you can download a free digital copy at

This will get you thinking about what your thoughts attract and offers a step-by-step approach to getting what you really want in life.

In terms of horse racing or handicapping, you can't be a consistent winner, if you have the mental diarrhea of a negative thinker, a.k.a. LOSER.
